In 2000, Taurus introduced the Model 627 Tracker. This 7-shot double-action revolver is in .357 Magnum caliber. This is roughly the same weapon as the 425 in .41 Magnum. The versions available are made of mat stainless steel or dark grey titanium, (Stealth) or in light gray (the Shadow). This revolver has a heavy solid 102 mm (4 in) barrel with a built-in compensator. On both sides of the front sight are four sunken gas outlets. This weapon has a micrometer sight and a rubber grip. The total length is 238 mm (9 ½ in). The stainless steel version weighs 1077g and the titanium version weighs 822g. This revolver has a transfer bar safety and a Taurus safety lock.
